The spiked and knobby surfaces of the Brute Box series were inspired by visits to the torture museum at Rocco Maggiore in Assisi, Italy. The "Brute Boxes" are constructed of white earthenware clay; thrown or extruded elements are joined to the slab-built forms. The series is offered in either a cube or flattened square format with a choice of over 12 elemental variations. The "Brute Boxes" are detailed with hanging slots on their back surfaces to allow them to be easily wall-mounted.
