The "Botanical Series" is based on studies of various types of flora and on the Buddhist representation of goodness vs. evil as the "seeds" within each of us which must be nurtured or destroyed in the formation of our morality. The sculptural vessels are made of white earthenware ceramic. The constructon process involves throwing, extruding, and handbuilding a repertory of sculptural elements which are then assembled into a composite whole to make each finished piece. The rich, textured surfaces are achieved by layering of glazes and multiple firings.
